The Sibaya Casino and the Entertainment Kingdom combine elements inspired by traditional Zulu life with western technology. The Umhlanga Lagoon Reserve Nature Trails offers guided nature walks where you can enjoy the beauty of the forest and a leisurely stroll along the beach back to the Breakers Resort. The Umgeni River Bird Park with their newly opened African Aviary boasting over 100 African birds is just a 15-minute drive from Umhlanga. Ocean2Air KiteSurf/Standup Paddleboard - located on the beach in nearby La Lucia where you can learn to get into the fastest growing water sport in the world. Hawaan Forest Trail Guided Nature Walks is situated over the M4 Freeway. This is a small remnant of a pristine dry coastal forest that is rich in biodiversity. Umhlanga is also a paradise for the romantically inclined and many couples either get married here or spend their honeymoon in Umhlanga. KwaZulu Natal Sharks Board offers show times with Shark dissections as well as a Curio Shop and a Shark Museum. For the more adventurous you can take an early morning boat trip to see the shark nets being cleared off Durban’s Golden Mile, as well as watching schools of dolphins passing by and perhaps see an occasional whale.

The cost of any damages, shortages or breakages and extras incurred during a guest’s stay will be billed to their account, and paid for by the guest. No persons other than those quoted for, are permitted to share the accommodation. Check in time is from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday to Friday and 1.p.m. to 6 p.m. over the weekend. Late check-ins are to be arranged prior to arrival. Check in’s after the stipulated check in times will incur a surcharge of R400,00. A minimum number of five nights is required for a booking during the December/January school holidays. Bookings over any long weekend cannot be split and must cover the entire long weekend. Children from the age of 10 years upwards are welcome. Matriculants are not permitted to stay at Anchor’s Rest Guest House unless accompanied by a parent/s for the full duration of their stay at the Guest House.
Travelling on the N2 take the off-ramp sign-posted “Umhlanga Rocks / Mount Edgecombe”. Keep to the right hand side of the road, as you will be turning right at the traffic lights at the end of the off-ramp. The sign is marked “Umhlanga Rocks to the right, Mount Edgecombe and Phoenix to the left”. Once on this road, take the 2nd turn-off, which is marked “Umhlanga Rocks Drive”. You will travel just over ½ km before reaching this turn-off. (The 1st turn-off is for the Gateway Shopping Centre.) When you reach the junction at the top of the off ramp, keep left into Umhlanga Rocks Drive. After passing the Umhlanga Rocks Hospital, you will reach a traffic circle, where you must take the 3rd turn-off on the circle, which is the continuation of “Umhlanga Rocks Drive”. You are now heading directly downhill towards the sea. At the 3rd set of traffic lights, turn right into Ridge Road. At the end of this block, there is a stop street with the “Umhlanga Veterinary clinic” diagonally opposite you. Turn right into Stanley Grace Crescent. The road curves to the left and Anchor’s Rest is the 4th house on the left hand side, number 14. There is a sign on the pavement which says “Anchor’s Rest B&B” .
