Acacia Bush Lodge is a real bush paradise that is both quiet and secluded yet close to amenities and positioned to be an ideal spot to explore the Midlands Meander, The Amble or even Durban.

If you are looking for quiet seclusion within easy reach of Pietermaritzburg, on your own or travelling with a large group, Acacia Bush Lodge is ideal.

Acacia Bush Lodge is a 24-bed bush camp about 10 minutes from central Pietermaritzburg and the Liberty Mall.

Comfortable accommodation is offered in eight, three-bedded air-conditioned wooden cottages.

We also offer the option of continental breakfasts delivered to each cottage. Each cottage is fully serviced except on Sundays.

Between the cottages parkland lawns interweave through indigenous thorn tree veldgrass leading to a splendid rock swimming pool. Around it flat-topped acacias spread shade offering a perfect place for a braai.

The propertys extent is nine hectares of pure Natal bushveld with reedbuck and duiker roaming the grounds. There are birding walks set up around the property. Security is excellent as night guards patrol. There is also shady, secure parking.

Directions:

From the freeway take the New England Offramp. If coming from Durban, turn right and cross the highway. If coming from Harrismith, turn left.

The next landmark is the Engen garage on the left. At this garage, turn right into Hesketh Rd. Continue on Hesketh Rd until a there is a distinct dip/valley in the road, where you will see clearly a road off the the left, at the bottom of the dip. This is Gripthorpe. Turn right here.

Now follow the road, ignoring minor dirt tracks, stay on the main road. It crosses the Duzi River. There is some gravel, some tar, some more gravel.

There is a distinct curve right on a gravel section followed by a curve left. When you hit tar again, Acacia Bush Lodge is 200m ahead on the left. It's difficult to miss.
