The Canon Roadhouse is situated on the Gondwana Cañon Park, and is located 20 kilometres from the main viewpoint of the Fish River Canyon.
The lodge is interestingly decorated with old car parts, found in the region. This is an excellent lodge from which to explore the Fish River Canyon.
It forms part of the privately owned Gondwana Cañon Nature Park, which is over 520 square kilometres in extent.
Just twenty kilometres from the main viewpoint of the Fish River Canyon in the arid splendour of southern Namibia, Cañon Roadhouse provides guests with the opportunity to experience one of natures greatest natural masterpieces, the Fish River Canyon.
The Fish River that has carved this impressive canyon has lost much of its original force. Rainfall is scarce and consequently the river flows only a few days a year. Strings of deep perennial pools contain water and an abundance of fish.
Hot springs occur at several points with the water temperature sometimes soaring to 600C.
Come and see for yourself how the water-starved Quiver tree ekes out an existence a few metres from lush ferns and mosses; how typical desert animals like oryx antelopes, kudu, springbok, an impressive variety of birds and ostriches share this finely balanced environment with leopards, fish eagles and herons.

Six double and 2 large family rooms provide accommodation for a maximum of 18 guests.
The à la Carte restaurant is open all day and makes dining here an intimate and cosy experience. Great care is taken to provide guests with delicious food and personalised service, while a large terrace allows for alfresco dining during those long southern summer-nights.
Due to the limited numbers of guests the Canon Roadhouse can accommodate, there is always a congenial atmosphere and the already famous "Wheels" bar has been the setting for many tall travellers' tales.
The large swimming pool and sundeck are tucked in between indigenous succulents such as hoodias and aloes.
How to get there:
From Grunau follow road C12 for 54km, turn right onto road D601 and after 16km you'll reach the Roadhouse on your left.
