Health & Climate:

Summer months are from October to April. As Ulusaba is an arid savannah region, rainfall is one of the most important factors influencing the ecosystem, and everything comes to life after the first substantial rains.

Most of the rain falls during the summer months. Temperatures are normally high and frequently exceed 35C which stimulates vegetation to grow quickly.

The days are humid and hot with frequent thunderstorms in the afternoons and evenings.

The bush is lush and green and great for birding, but becomes difficult to spot game as the bush is so dense.

Walking trails are great for spotting smaller game, bugs, insects and flora.

It is advised that malaria prophylactics be taken. We recommend that light clothing be worn during the day and a light jacket be taken on evening game drives

Winter months are from May to September. The winters are generally sunny and mild with night-time temperatures seldom reaching freezing point.

There is little rain in winter and the best time to view game is when the bush is at it’s driest.

It is recommended that a very thick, warm jacket be taken along on both morning and evening game drives.

Temperature range between 10 – 18 C during the day.
