This reserve in the North-Western Highveld is home to 120 bird species, indigenous trees, proteas, orchids and many more. See the Old gold-mine shaft, stone amphitheatre, small dam and various sites of geological and botanical interest.
It is at Sterkfontein (within the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site) that the famous Mrs Ples (Plesianthropus transvaalenis) was discovered - well-preserved skull of a species of early man who lived there about two million years ago.
Situated in Gauteng in the world-renowned valley of famous palaeontological sites containing the oldest relics of mankind. This wondrous cave contains various pools and formations, some up to 15m high.
