Rugged Glen is a rugged part of the Drakensberg Mountain Range, with spectacular beauty, nature trails and trout-fishing.
The 762 ha Rugged Glen is adjacent to Royal Natal National Park and 4 km from its gate. There are nature trails and trout-fishing, and horse rides set out from the Rugged Glen stables.
The game and birdlife are similar to those found in the Royal Natal National Park, and the sanctuaries share access roads from Harrismith and Bergville.
Accommodation within the Royal Natal National Park can be found at Thendele Rest Camp and Thendele Lodge.
The Northern Drakensberg is supported mostly by the town of Bergville with a variety of accommodation options as well as accommodation in the larger Northern Drakensberg area.
A short circular walk may be taken along a path from the visitors' car park, up the valley, leading through several attractive bush patches to the Mont-Aux-Sources Hotel and via the road back to the visitors' car park.
From the visitors' carpark at Rugged Glen (signposted), follow the path up to the Camel's Hump, from which magnificent views across the reserve to the Drakensberg escarpment can be seen.
From the Mont-Aux-Sources Hotel take the Main path leading into the Park, and follow it until the Camel's Hump is reached.
