The shower was really terrible - literally water dribbled out and the water was luke warm even after a very hot day. The pool was lovely - everything else was good.

Basic but clean and neat. Exactly what we expected. If you simply want a no frills place to sleep for the night, half way through a long journey, then this is a good option.

The cottage was neat, clean and well appointed. Whilst it was not luxurious it was fantastic value for money! We shall certainly recommend it for any reasonable traveller! We were there out of season and the only residence and therefore very peaceful. The town and it's people was neat and peaceful. We would recommend for stopover stay any day!

Plenty of space. Airconditioners and splash pool were life savers in the heat of December. Love the all the fruit on the fruit trees in the garden - such a treat!

Baie goed toegerus. Sal net verkies dat die hek agter die motors kon sluit of elektries toemaak dan hoef jy nie al jou bagasie af te laai vir een nag oorbly nie. Sal weer daar tuisgaan.

We were in Rooibekkie for one night on our way up to Jhb, and found it delightful - modern and a super bathroom. Had a wonderful dip in the pool. The second time, on the the way back, we stayed in Swallow and were a little disappointed. It was beautifully clean and had everything we needed, but seemed a little 'cheap' compared to Rooibekkie - no bathroom, just a shower, which was disappointing. The beds in both were superb and the linen crisp and clean, as were the towels and everything else.
We had a very comfortable, pleasant stay. The price for what we got was really good compared to other places we had stayed at on the same journey. On the whole, we were very satisfied with everything and have recommended it to friends.

A fan is a must with that heat. They could perhaps just add a couple of items to the kitchen area for the basic day to day needs and definitely need a new braai.

Baie goed. Kamers is goed ingerig.
Goed ontvang.

Although our stay was pleasant, we would of liked to have a shower in the bathroom. I would also suggest to remove the toilet cover and to do something about the toilet seat to stay open for gents to use.

Maybe a sign in all rooms advising guest to consider others in adjacent room when coming in late at night (banging doors, dragging furniture across the floor etc.)

We were extremely disappointed with the accommodation as we had booked for 4 adults, fortunately our aged parents were unable to do the trip but we did have an adult male in their place. He had to sleep in a bed in the kitchen and it was very difficult to use the toilet which was in the main bedroom in the far corner and hardly any space around the bed. We left a day earlier than we had booked for and in future will stay in the hotel where we know we will be given en suite bathrooms.

Myself, my lady friend and my father stayed in Swallow cottage. On arrival, we had a friendly welcome from Elizabeth. The linen, towels and interior were very clean, and tidy.
Could possibly improve the shower area, by creating a small "change area" for privacy. Have a mirror and shelf mounted on the new wall instead of the dressing table - the carpet & concertina door will eventually be spoiled by the water. Add a proper mixer to the shower and the hot water does not last very long.
Maybe loose the copper pictures - it would be more elegant if a single softer painting be placed on that wall. I am 1.60m tall & could not see myself in the mirror above the basin. Please don't think I am just criticizing, I hope this info could help you in making your place more cosy for your guests.

The room we stayed in was quite small - and the self-catering options were a bit limited (no oven). Fine for a night on the way back from Cape Town to Johannesburg, but not ideal for a week at Gariep Dam. There was another double room that looked much bigger. Pool was welcome but just a plunge pool.
