It is operated as a guided trail.<\/p>\n<p>The proclamation of the Mountain Zebra National Park in 1937 saved the Cape mountain zebra from extinction, and currently their population stands at 300. Other mammals found here include the cheetah, Cape buffalo, black rhino, eland, black wildebeest, red hartebeest and gemsbok, while mountain reedbuck and grey rhebok frequent the higher areas.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The first day of the Impofu Trail meanders through grassland and mountain shrub land, passing the famous Big Rock.<\/p>\n<p>Day two is a mountain grassland experience with a chance of spotting herds of eland and mountain reedbuck. The final leg of the hike passes through riverine thicket, ending at the main rest camp (and arrival point).<\/p>\n<p>Two mountain cottages provide the overnight stop for hikers in secluded and scenic areas of the Park. Hikers must bring their own provisions and bedding \/ sleeping bags.<\/p>\n<p>A minimum of 2 and maximum of 6 people are taken per guide and hikers must have a minimum age of 16 years.
