For several years, France has been engaged in a series of reciprocal Seasons with its key international partners and the French Season in South Africa 2012 will be the first time that a sub-Saharan country is involved.<\/p>\n

The French Season in South Africa is a festive period that presents a range of 100 different projects, performances and initiatives across the country.<\/p>\n

The programme includes cultural and collaborative events in various fields, including theatre, dance, art, music, photography, cinema, street art, literature, performing arts, innovation, science and technology, education, business, tourism and sport.<\/p>\n

Highlights include:<\/strong><\/p>\n

* French Film Festival in South Africa
\nTours five cities (Johannesburg, Pretoria, Port Elizabeth, Durban, Cape Town) in August offering some of the finest contemporary French films.
\n1 – 26 August, 2012; Cinema Nouveau, Ster-Kinekor (select)<\/p>\n

* Standard Bank Joy of Jazz Festival
\nIt as one of the most attractive and important gatherings on the South African music scene.
\n23 – 25 August, 2012; Newtown, Johannesburg<\/p>\n

* Jomba!
\nA dynamic 12-day celebration of contemporary dance taking place in Durban. The programme covers a variety of dance theatre presentations.
\n31 August – 11 September, 2012; Durban, South Africa<\/p>\n

* The adaptation of Moli\u00e8re\u2019s \u201cL\u2019Avare\u201d (\u201cThe Miser\u201d)
\nSouth African adaptation of French playwright Moli\u00e8re\u2019s classic.
\n1 September – 1 December, 2012; Market Theatre, Johannesburg<\/p>\n

* Oppikoppi
\nThis annual rock festival will get a dose of French including the popular Balkanology stage, Les Doigts de l\u2019Homme and Babylon Circus.
