Follow in the footsteps of South Africa\u2019s founders when the majesty of the V&A Waterfront was a brave little jetty built by Jan van Riebeeck in 1654. Relive the frenzy of the shouts of the sailors and stevedores as you sidestep and expertly navigate the hustle and bustle of this iconic trading port\u2019s vibrant history.<\/p>\n

Salute HRH Prince Alfred, Queen Victoria\u2019s second son, for inaugurating the V&A Waterfront\u2019s construction as a 16-year-old midshipman in the Royal Navy in 1860.<\/p>\n

The tours offer visitors a chance to step back into the history of the Cape Town Harbour, the making of the V&A Waterfront and where we are today. Historical points of interest include: historical Clock Tower, Robertson Dry Dock (one of the oldest of its kind in the world), Timeball Tower, Breakwater Prison Treadmill and prison markings on the wall, Breakwater Secret Tunnel.<\/p>\n

The tour takes about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on visitor interest and photo stops. Booking is essential.<\/p>\n
