Lions, tigers, cheetahs, leopards, jaguars, and other top felines are quickly disappearing, all victims of habitat loss and degradation as well as conflicts with<a href=\"http:\/\/www.places.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Image1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-215\" src=\"http:\/\/www.places.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Image1.jpg\" alt=\"Lioness\" width=\"300\" height=\"229\"\/><\/a> humans.<\/p>\n<p>The number of Lions and Big Cats living in the wild has dwindled:<br \/>\n* Lions: from 400,000 (1960) to about 20,000 (2011)<br \/>\n* Leopards: from 750,000 to 50,000<br \/>\n* Cheetahs: from 45,000 to 12,000<br \/>\n* Tigers: from 50,000 to 3,000<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalgeographic.org\/projects\/big-cats-initiative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Geographic Big Cat Initiative<\/a> is an effort to save the Big Cats.
