Cape Town is famous for its beaches. In less than 20 minutes, you could be lying on the white sands of Camps Bay or Clifton – some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
From the scenic slopes of Lion’s Head and Signal Hill, a rail car will take the more adventurous up to the top of Table Mountain providing a stunning view of the Cape Peninsula.
Literally around the corner, this area provides great hiking and walking trails, breathtaking views and unbeatable photo opportunities.
For something offshore, Robben Island (the prison that held the great Nelson Mandela for almost 30 years) can be accessed via ferries that leave hourly from the waterfront.
With the Victoria and Alfred (V&A) Waterfront a close 10 minutes drive away, you may consider making a day of this while shopping and dining at the many top quality stores and restaurants there.
Closer to town, Greenmarket Square also provides a great selection of African handicrafts and wears.
The famous Stellenbosch, Franschoek and Paarl Winelands are also only a quick and scenic forty-five minute drive away!

We booked online, our first visit to South Africa. The Underberg was terrific! The owners, Ann and Bruce, were wonderful hosts. They assisted us with travel information, taxis, dinner reservations. Breakfast was excellent. It is a good location to walk to restaurants (safe at night), and other places of interest. Some rooms have their own balcony. When we left and arrived at the airport, our friend realized he had left his computer in the room. They had already arranged for their daughter to bring it to the airport. They went out of their way as hosts. I would highly recommend the Underberg......it is good value, as well as a charming place to stay.
