Kwenga Safari Lodge is situated inside the Balule Private Nature Reserve which forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park and is a dedicated animal conservation area, a real African wildlife wilderness.

Being a protected area in the Limpopo Province, South Africa. Balule Nature Reserve is a member of the Associated Private Nature Reserves (APNR) with no fences separating APNR reserves and the Kruger National Park.

The area attracts a diverse variety of birds and wildlife, including Lion, White Rhino, Buffalo, Leopard, Cheetah and other African game.

Visitors are exposed to the magnificent views of the majestic Drakensberg Mountains from the reserves natural vantage points perfect for romantic sundowners.

Game drive safaris and bush walks:
Early morning and afternoon game drives are conducted in open 4 x 4 Safari vehicles and together with Guided foot Safaris are included in the quoted rates.

Walks and drives are conducted by qualified Rangers. Sundowners are enjoyed at various breathtaking scenic spots. All of our staff at Umhlametsi are experienced, qualified and dedicated to the conservation of the Reserve.

You are encouraged to experience a bush walk where you will be amazed by the intricate wonders of the African bush. This is where the Umhalmetsi experience is so different and dedicated. The Rangers point out not only the Big 5 but all the other fascinating components of the Fauna and Flora that are often overlooked.

This is one of the best private nature reserves in the Limpopo province, South Africa.

Malaria is endemic to the Limpopo region of the country and therefore this includes Kwenga Safari Lodge and the Kruger National Park. We are on the edge of the malaria belt, thus we are in a malaria area. Directions:

By road take the N12 from Johannesburg and join the N4 at Witbank. Continue past Middleburg and take the R33 turn off to Belfast.

In Belfast turn right onto the R540 passing through Dullstroom, continue on to Lydenburg where you will join the R36 taking you through Orighstad and down the Abel Erasmus Pass and through the Strydom Tunnel.

A few kilometres from the tunnel there is a sign left to Tzaneen/Phalaborwa(R36). Do not take that turn off but continue straight on to Hoedspruit along the R527. Pass directly through Hoedspruit, over the R40 and follow the sign boarding to Umhlametsi. 7 Kilometres to the gate.
