Health & Climate:
The entire Namibian coast is a malaria-free zone and there are no other known health risks either.
You should however protect your head with a hat and exposed skin with good sun lotion during outdoor activities.
Contrary to the remainder of Namibia, the Namibian coast, which is dominated by the climate conditions of the hot Namib Desert and the artic Benguela Current in the Southern Atlantic Ocean, has got a moderate climate throughout the year.
Summer and winter temperatures vary only slightly, and there is no rainy season. Swakopmund only occasionally receives isolated rain showers. Typical for the coastal weather patterns is though that sea fog moves inland each night, which usually takes until mid-morning, sometimes until midday, to clear over Swakopmund.
