Rosemary Hill is a family-run business and works in close co-operation with the The Waldorf School, which was started in Pretoria in 1972 and moved to the farm in 1978. There are currently 240 learners from The Kindergarten to grade 9, of which 65 are boarders and 130 make use of one of the school’s eight school buses commuting from Pretoria, Centurion and Bronkhorstspruit.
We have been practicing organic farming here for almost 35 years, and during this time have planted over 30,000 trees and shrubs. We currently grow African Potato, Sutherlandia, Rosemary, Lavender, Artemisia, Lippia, Spearmint, Eucalyptus and various other plants from which we distill essential oils. Other crops include pecan nuts and vegetables. Our nursery sells a variety of shrubs, herbs, flowers and trees.
Our fun and safe award-winning trails are open seven days a week from 6am to 6pm. It takes riders and runners on a scenic 33 km route across the farm, with quite a few unique obstacles and challenges. We offer secure parking, toilet facilities and a coffee shop with food and refreshments for after the run/ride.
Rosemary Hill is one of the very few establishments in Gauteng that offers an authentic Morning or Afternoon Tea (or High Tea) experience. High Tea treats are freshly prepared for your enjoyment and presented on elevated tiers with beautiful freshly picked herbs and flowers from our gardens.
We offer various options for hosting events – from gourmet picnics, mountain bike parties and little girl birthday parties to conferences, year end functions and Christenings.
Our farm weddings are one of a kind. We are able to customise your wedding and provide a truly memorable experience. Our meals are delicious as everything is freshly prepared. Couples also get two full days to set up their wedding!
Our Guest House can sleep 12 people and we are in the process of renovating one of the farm houses that will be fully self-catering and will be able to accommodate another 8 guests.
Another unique attraction is our beautiful maze which we planted over Easter weekend (2011). The maze is 80 m in diameter and is made up of over 2000 trees, herbs and shrubs. It is a “multi-purpose” maze: Firstly a beautiful garden and then also a venue for open-air concerts, wedding ceremonies, art exhibitions etc.
The latest addition to our farm comes in the form of a new tenant, Acrobranch. We are so excited to partner with them on offering treetop adventures to day visitors. They do the activity side and we do the catering side – a perfect match. Think team building days, bachelor parties, children’s parties and just a fun day out for friends!
