Plover Cottages
Plover Cottages offers the ideal stopover for the weary traveler.

Come relax in the beautiful countryside of big sky country and breath the fresh air of the Free State. Make your overnight stop part of your holiday.

Plover Cottages caters for the overnight traveler and those visiting Bloemfontein who prefer the peace and quite of the country to the noisy city. We are not involved with conferencing and guarantee no loud business parties.

Plover Cottage B&B also known as Plover Cottages, consists of five units which are spread between three buildings. Two are free-standing while three units are back to back on building, completely private from one another.

Continental breakfasts are stocked in the units and dinner is available on arrangement. We are pet-friendly but arrangements must please be made prior to arrival as we do charge a small fee for pets.

Accommodation at Plover Cottages:
There are five units available -

Plover 1
This unit is free-standing with queen bed downstairs in room area and two singles in the roof area which is accessed via a ladder. Upstairs area not suitable for very young children or older people. Shower facilities with basic cooking and braai area.

Plover 2
This family unit is back to back with two other units but each unit is private from one another with entrances facing different sides of the building. Unit can accommodate 4 people. Downstairs main room with en-suite shower facilities and upstairs in a lofted area two single beds. Toilet and basin upstairs as well. Only unit with stove and oven. Open plan lounge area with dining area. Braai facilities outside.

Plover 3
Smallest unit with twin beds. Got en-suite bath facilities. No braai area but one can warm up food in unit. Got dining table with tea and coffee facilities.

Plover 4
Family unit is free-standing with one bedroom with three single beds and a pull-out matras. Ideal for three people sharing or family with young children. Unit has shower facilities and has got living/lounge area with dining table. Braai facilities outside.

Plover 5
Unit is at the back of Plover 2 and Plover 3. Got own entrance with small verandah. Queen bed with single bed and pull out matras. Although this is also a two sleeper, one can use it for young family. Open plan with kitchenette and dining table. Shower facilities with braai area outside.

All units are standard with under counter fridge (except Plover 2 with larger fridge), microwave, toaster, two plate stove/electric frying pan and coffee and tea facilities. Only Plover 3 does not have a washing up area or braai area.

Plover Cottages Activities:

The area is steeped in Anglo Boer War history and even has a British Camp excavation on the property and offers interesting walks and crystal clear night skies.

One can arrange to visit a nearby wildlife sanctuary or horse-riding or spend a day visiting tourist attractions in and outside of Bloemfontein. Birding is popular and a walk to the river on a neighbouring property can be arranged.
