Nestled against the Roodeberg mountain range that reaches from Fish Hoek to Kommetjie, Makapa Lodge borders SANParks -Table Mountain National Park- on 3 sides with beautiful views spanning the Noordhoek Amphitheatre, the long wide sandy beach of Noordhoek, Chapman`s Peak and the back of the Table Mountain range.

With a wildlife corridor on our doorstep you experience a sense of untouched wilderness with a menagerie of birdlife and wild animals that include Mongoose, wild Tortoise, Striped Mouse and Porcupine. You might even be lucky enough to see a Cape Grysbok grazing of the mountainside and Dassie on the rocks overlooking the Lodge. Don`t let me forget about our resident Cape Eagle owls as well as the local troop of Chacma Baboons.

Set in a large landscaped, indigenous garden you are beckoned to stroll through this fragrant garden and it`s hard to turn down the idea of relaxing on a shady bench set under the big trees or exploring the little pathways with their nooks and crannies.

It`s impossible not to fall in love with Makapa Lodge. A luxury guesthouse offering bed and breakfast accommodation and a most comfortable night`s sleep in our spacious suites (lounge, bedroom and bathroom) where you have the choice of twin, queen or king beds as well as poolside or garden facing accommodation. All suites have an outdoor seating area. Enjoy a mouth watering breakfast personally prepared for you by your hosts Jimmy and Vivienne.


We are situated midway between the Atlantic and False Bay coasts in the Fish Hoek/Noordhoek Valley and midway between the V&A Waterfront, Table Mountain Cableway an The Boulders Beach Penguin Colony and Cape Point.


Returning to Makapa Lodge after a busy day of sight-seeing, or if you are wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and spend the day at the Lodge, you can enjoy a swim in the solar heated swimming pool or relax on a sun lounger under a parasol around the pool where you are protected from the wind.

- From the airport:
- Take the N2 towards Cape Town
- Before you reach the city turn off at Junction 6 – (Observatory ) onto the M3 to Muizenberg, (also signposted Kirstenbosch and Rhodes Drive).
- Continue on the M3 to the end of the freeway (about 16Km)until it meets Steenberg Rd, (Junction 23), at the T-junction turn right (M42), signposted to Ou Kaapse Weg and Fish Hoek.
- After about 1 km turn left onto ‘Ou Kaapse Weg’ (M64), also sign posted Fish Hoek and Simons Town.
- Continue over the mountain pass until you reach the suburb of Sun Valley.
- Pass through one set of traffic lights at the second set of traffic lights, turn right towards Kommetjie on the M65.
- At the first traffic light on the M65 turn left into Capri Drive (brown Makapa signpost), then take the 5th road left, Grand Bahamas Drive. (brown Bed signpost)
- The 3rd road right is Java Close (brown Makapa signpost) drive up to the two stone pillars and ring the bell which is inside the wooden box.

Units and Rooms

The Garden Room

Indulge your senses when you stay in the Garden Room with its relaxed ambience and views of the garden and mountains. You enter the double aspect sunny lounge area from a quaint patio with seating. The king bed sits against an imposing stone wall that runs right through into a luxurious bathroom which also has a sliding door that opens on to the garden. Stepping into this modern suite you are drawn to the Victorian style stand alone slipper bath. This room leads into a larger shower area with an extra height rain shower.

Ideal for that romantic break, this is the room we offer as our honeymoon suite. Like our other luxury suites, The Garden Room has comfortable arm chairs, coffee table, writing desk, mini fridge, microwave oven, tea and coffee making facilities, a flat screen satellite television, telephone, heater, electronic safe and hairdryer. Black out drapes and blinds are standard in all our suites.

As the sun sets enjoy a relaxing glass of wine while you listen to the last of the bird song and watch the ever changing sky fade behind the coastal mountains. The Garden Room is furbished in deep browns and shades of leather, crisp white linen and accents of turquoise that complete our African theme.

Cottonwood Suite

Cottonwood Suite is one of our three luxury poolside suites. It is entered from a private poolside patio area with seating which also overlooks the indigenous garden. This lounge is furnished with comfortable arm chairs, coffee table, writing desk, telephone, mini fridge, a microwave oven, tea and coffee making facilities and a flat screen satellite television. A portable radiator is provided. From the hallway you enter a double bedroom which has a queen size bed. This room is furnished with a cottonwood double wardrobe and mirrored dressing table and has generous shelf and drawer space. An electronic sage and hairdryer are provided.


The lounge leads, via a hallway, into the bathroom which has a modern suite with extended circular shower area over the bath. Glass doors from the bedroom lead to a second private, quiet garden with seating which is shaded on a hot afternoon and looks onto the Roodeberg mountainside. Blackout drapes are standard in all suites.


The Cottonwood Suite is furbished in a Protea theme with crisp white linen and accent colours of ice pink and pale green, just like our beautiful Proteas. This suite is positioned next to the Oregon Suite and has an inter leading door which can be utilised should you want to be closer to the friends you are holidaying with. Please inquire about the availability of a cot.


Oakwood Suite


The Oakwood Suite is one of our three luxury poolside suites. Leading to the sliding glass front door is a wooden deck with seating and views of the fragrant indigenous garden. From this patio area you enter the lounge which has comfortable arm chairs, oak coffee table and writing desk, telephone, a mini fridge and microwave oven, tea and coffee making facilities and a flat screen satellite television. A portable radiator is provided. As this room is large we are able to accommodate an extra single bed.


The tastefully furnished bedroom is entered from the lounge. This twin or king bedded room has an oak double wardrobe, mirrored dressing table and generous shelf and drawer space. The on-suite bathroom has a modern suite with extended circular shower area over the bath. Leading off from the bedroom is the second seated patio area overlooking the solar heated swimming pool. Blackout drapes are standard in all suites. Please enquire about the availability of an extra single bed and/or cot.


The Oakwood Suite is furbished in a Zebra theme with crisp white linen and accentuation colours of black, grey and charcoal.


Oregon Suite


Oregon Suite is one of our three luxury poolside suites. This suite with its elevated stone clad feature fireplace has been furnished with beautiful custom designed Oregon Pine furniture. The lounge is entered from its private seated patio area overlooking the solar heated pool and fragrant indigenous garden. It is well furnished with comfortable arm chairs, Oregon coffee table and writing desk, a mini fridge and a microwave oven. A telephone, tea and coffee making facilities, a flat screen satellite television and a portable radiator are also provided.

The roomy lounge leads into the bedroom furnished with a queen bed, a double Oregon wardrobe and mirrored dressing table, and generous shelf and drawer space. The generous en-suite bathroom leads from the bedroom and has a bath with extended circular shower area over the bath. An electronic safe and hairdryer are provided. Sliding glass doors lead out to a second private, quiet garden area from the bedroom. This sheltered garden is shaded on a hot afternoon. Blackout drapes are standard in all suites. This suite is positioned next to Cottonwood Suite and has an inter leading door that can be utilised should you want to be closer to the friends you are holidaying with. Please enquire about the availability of a cot.

Oregon Suite is furbished in an African Birds theme with crisp white linen and rich red accents.
