The three self-contained chalets stand tall and strong, as proud as the celebrated Kruger Park “great tusker” elephants after which they have been named.
Shingwedzi, Shawu and Kambaku offer unique privacy, your luxury family home in the African bush.
Due to our unique layout we offer the ideal venue for a family safari in the big 5 reserve.
Both the Kruger Park and the panorama route are a mere 45 minutes away.

Shawu sleeps 8 - 4 en-suite bedrooms
Shingwedzi sleeps 6 - 3 en-suite bedrooms
Kambaku sleeps 9 - 3 en-suite bedrooms
This double story thatched chalet is nestled among towering Jackelberry trees. Shawu has a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, two luxurious en-suite rooms and an elevated deck overlooking the river.
A private pool shaded by indigenous shrubbery lets you relax and enjoy the African sun, the campfire facilities allows you to spend peaceful evenings enveloped in the nocturnal sounds of the bush.
A true taste of African Bush-living for the whole family. A Private plunge pool with a panoramic view of the river and the mountains lets you laze away the long African days while keeping an eye out for game that might just happen to pass over the river.
Upstairs we have a bedroom with a screened Victorian bath, air conditioning and private deck, while downstairs has it’s own bedroom with en-suite shower.
The lounge and kitchen in classic African décor walks out onto the large deck overlooking the river- a perfect location for sundowners or those magnificent early-morning breakfasts.
This chalet is the largest of the three-sleeping 9 people, three double en suite rooms on the ground floor, and a double and single on the first floor. Fully equipped kitchen own private rock pool and a braai area, trampoline for the kids.
On 1st January 2017, Karongwe Private Game Reserve will introduce a new conservation levy to the Karongwe Reserve. This levy is essential in the fight against chromalena, poaching, and many other activities that preserve the wildlife heritage of the Karongwe Reserve for future generations to come. Conservation levies are not included in the accommodation rates, and will be R40 per person and must be settled by the guest on departure at each respective lodge.
