Observatory - the student hub of Cape Town. The Green Elephant is in the heart of Observatory, where students from all around the world live together, party together and enjoy the good life.

The attractions are coffee shops, second hand bookshops, pubs, restaurants, a golf driving range, the original Observatory, Groote Schuur Hospital (where the world`s first heart transplant took place, theatres and small art galleries. The annual Obs Festival is held on the first Saturday in December.

Trendy, young and artistic community. Obs for short - Observatory is Cape Town´s bohemian* suburb. It is one of Cape Town´s happening suburbs for local bars, live music and health food restaurants. *Bohemian - Socially unconventional; of free-and-easy habits. (The Pocket Oxford Dictionary)

The neighbourhood - Observatory:
The Green Elephant is situated in the lively student area of Observatory. We are close to pubs and restaurants, public transport, shops, movies, sports grounds and theatres.

It is well placed for a base in Cape Town while you enjoy the benefits the Cape has to offer. Being in a student area, the pubs are full of young people and prices are low! It is not as expensive other Cape Town nightlife areas.
