Damesfontein Farm is situated in the heart of the Karoo Highlands, just 50km from Graaff-Reinet and 48km from the village of Nieu Bethesda in the Eastern Cape.
This is a working Karoo sheep and cattle farm, with a family history dating back to 1838, when their ancestors first settled here. The fifth generation is still living and working on the farm.
This same family offers a taste into farm living in historic surroundings in comfortable lodgings - the “Main Guesthouse” and the “Foremans House”.
There is an interesting and noteworthy museum in the original farm house adjacent to the present modern buildings, with original items from their ancestors displayed authentically.
Catering and Karoo meals can be provided on request.
The Main Guesthouse is furnished with many of the original sets. Everything you would need for a farm holiday is provided for in a relaxed environment.
The Main Guest House has a fully equipped kitchen, three seperate bedrooms with double beds, one bathroom with
shower and bath, lounge and dining area and a braai lapa area. Sleeps up to 9.
It is fully furnished and is well-equiped for self-catering.
The Foremans House is adjacent to the main guest house but completely private. The styling is more suitable for groups sharing the facilities, or for groups of children.
The Foremans House has two bedrooms with 3 single beds in each, also a small lounge with a fireplace and a single bed
and a separate shower and toilet. Sleeps 7
The Herdsmen Shelter is a small and completely private small cave, situated about 1,5km from the main house. Everthing is provided like bedding, lighting, braai equipment, mattress and bedding. This is an ideal spot for newly weds!
One of the main attractions of the farm is its family museum.
