Summers are awesome! But can get very hot and windy at times. When out in the sun, be sure to wear a sun hat / cap and sunscreen.
Winters are cold and wet, in a normal year… with reasonably high rainfall interspersed with beautiful hot cloudless days.

Join the N1 highway from Cape Town or the airport and head towards Paarl. Take either the Klapmuts turnoff or the next Paarl turnoff and follow the directions to Franschhoek on the R45 road. This road takes you straight into the village.
From the N2 on the other side, travel towards Swellendam and then turn off towards Villiersdorp. At Villiersdorp, turn left towards Franschhoek and the Theewaterskloof dam. At the dam, turn right towards Franschhoek and go over the Franschhoek pass, one of the loveliest and most picturesque passes in the country. This road takes you straight into the town.
