Addo Elephant Safari Lodge is situated in the pristine valleys of the Zuurberg Mountains, bordering the recently proclaimed Greater Addo Elephant National Park.
This area is regarded as Africas most biologically diverse, supporting 4 of the 7 biomes or eco-regions in Southern Africa.
The area encompass habitats ranging from semi-arid Karoo areas, across fynbos covered slopes which merge with impenetrable thickets and montane forests and extending into rolling grasslands.
During the walks informative guides will provide information on this unique area, allowing the client to be at one with nature. Appreciate nature from an elephant`s perspective. Walking besides these gentle giants will allow you to observe the elephant`s habits in their natural surroundings.
This safari experience is about learning and becoming familiar with one of Africa`s most stately, intelligent mammals - the African Elephant.
It is an adventure of relaxed interaction with the elephants, enjoying the beauty of the area and of getting acquainted with these gentle giants in a meaningful way.

The Addo Elephant Lodge accommodations are perfectly designed to blend discreetly into their surrounding valley bushveld environment. The private and exclusive suites, some nestled in the Yellowwood forest and others set on the hillside offering extraordinary views, are housed on elevated wooden decks. Constructed of part canvas, part recycled Brazilian pine and luxuriously decorated to evoke Hemingway`s Africa of yesteryear, we invite you to relax in our remarkably spacious, sophisticated suites in the Heart of the Addo Region.

A once in a lifetime safari adventure - at one with nature, following in the footsteps of the ancients. We offer you the exhilarating experience of riding these magnificent animals. Revel in the natural beauty of the environs and its wildlife from your lofty seat as these gentle giants amble through the African bush.
After the ride, walk with them through the diverse valley bushveld, ravine and forest habitat. At the conclusion of the walk enjoy rewarding the elephants with their favorite treats. We highly recommend that guests make use of either our air or road transfer options to reach the Lodge. Our in-house air and road transfer service is fully compliant and offers road and air transfers to and from the lodge, an ideal opportunity to sit back, relax and take in the spectacular scenery the Eastern Cape has on offer. We offer transfers from our Addo airfield, Port Elizabeth, Plettenberg Bay and Cape Town.

Child Policy: Children are allowed to ride the elephants, with a parent accompanied by an elephant handler. 50% discount for children under the age of 12 years

Email, Internet and Television
The lodge has a wireless internet connection for the guests` convenience. There are no televisions in the rooms. Guests wishing
to watch a sporting event can do so on request.
Children are welcome
Children under 3 years of age are accommodated at no charge. Children from 4 to 12 years of age may share with adults at 50 % of the adult rate. Maximum of 2 children per room. Children from 12 years and older, will be charged the full adult rate whether sharing with parents or staying in a separate unit. Babysitting facilities are offered at a nominal extra charge. Prior notice to request this service is essential. Game drives and nature walks can be tailor made for children.
Health and Climate:
As the Eastern Cape is malaria-free, prophylactics are not necessary.
Activities:
Walks with the elephants through bush, ravines and forest. The walk is not strenuous and at an enjoyable pace. Walks will allow the guests to observe the elephants habits in their natural surroundings.
Then enjoy the thrill of riding these gentle giants to their favourite waterhole to watch them swim and make the most of the mud. Here you will be able to relax at the waterhole.
Optional activities include guided day trips into the Addo Elephant National Park, scenic flights over the Zuurberg Mountains and sunshine coast, golf at Bushman's Sands, historical settler and Anglo-Boer war tours, day trips to the awe-inspiring Karoo. These activities need to be pre-booked.
Cancellation Policy:
- 25 % of fee If cancellation is less than 30 days prior to arrival
- 50 % of fee If cancellation is less than 15 days prior to arrival
- 100 % of fee If cancellation is less than 7 days prior to arrival
