reserves in the Western Cape range from the very large to the very small with more
than 1 million ha of land being formally protected. These reserves include the West Coast National Park - 80km north of Cape Town with its thousands of seabirds, pristine golden beaches and brooding salt marshes- Cederberg Wilderness Area which is renowned for its lunar landscapes, rock formations and rock art and the popular eco-destination of Tsitsikamma with its famous Otter Hiking Trail and De Hoop Nature Reserve on the whale route. |
