Limpopo Game Reserves and Lodges

With its vast expanses of bushveld wilderness roamed by an abundance of wildlife species, the Limpopo Province is the perfect destination for nature and wildlife enthusiasts. The province is predominantly rural and the result is that large areas still remain untouched by human development and well-preserved, African ecosystems are found here.

Game Lodges and Reserves in the Limpopo Province:

Greater Kruger Park Area
Kruger National Park (central & northern section)
The Kruger National Park offers a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa. This national park of nearly 2 million hectares is unrivalled in the diversity of its life forms and is home to an impressive number of species. Please view a list of restcamps in the Kruger National Park.

Timbavati Game Reserve
Timbavati borders Kruger Park and all fences separating Timbavati from Kruger and from the neighbouring Klaserie Game Reserve have been removed, creating a vast wilderness area.

It is famous for the occurrence of the rare white lion gene in and the area is regarded by many as offering some of the finest game viewing in Southern Africa.

Klaserie Game Reserve
Klaserie ranks with Sabi Sand and Timbavati as one the world's largest private game reserves. Klaserie has its own appeal as it is an undulating, unspoiled countryside, dominated by soft shades of bushwillow woodland. The Klaserie River cuts a vivid green swath through the yellow-grey landscape along this waterway that herds of elephant congregate.

Balule Private Nature Reserve
The Balule Private Nature Reserve was created ten years ago and has since grown into a 35000 ha Private Nature Reserve with the perennial Olifants River flowing for approximately 20 km through the center of the reserve.

Kapama Game Reserve
Fifteen thousand hectares of undisturbed bushveld form the backdrop for the game reserve where a multitude of animal, plant and birdlife reveals the essence of the Valley of the Olifants.

Thornybush Game Reserve
Thornybush Game Reserve is in the heart of the beautiful Lowveld and about 30 kilometres from the Kruger National Park’s Orpen Gate.

Large numbers of wildlife roam the 11500 hectares of savannah and the climate is superb all year round.
From cool early-morning safaris to warm evenings under the stars, Thornybush offers a feast for your soul and your senses. Manyeleti Game Reserve
The 23,000-hectare Manyeleti Game Reserve is wedged between the Timbavati Private Reserve, the Kruger National Park and the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. The reserve is situated away from the mainstream tourist areas and one may still experience the tranquility of the African Bush in total seclusion. These parks all fall within a malaria area and the necessary pre-cautions must be taken.

Waterberg Area

Marakele National Park
The Marakele National Park in the heart of the Waterberg Mountains has become a 'place of sanctuary' for an impressive variety of wildlife due to its location in the transitional zone between the dry western and moister eastern regions of South Africa.
The park is characterised by contrasting majestic mountain landscapes, grass-clad hills and deep valleys.

Waterberg Private Game Lodges
The Waterberg area in the central and western parts of the Limpopo province is one of the country's premier wildlife areas. Little more than three hours drive from Johannesburg you will find yourself surrounded by endless vistas of mountains and bushveld. The main towns in the area are Thabazimi, Ellisras, Potgietersrus and Warmbaths. The area is characterised by contrasting majestic mountain landscapes, grass-clad hills and deep valleys and it is malaria free. This is a relatively well-watered and largely unspoilt area.
