Mpumalanga is not a highly developed province with large cities and towns - instead, visitors to the province are brought closer to nature.

Nelspruit is the capital of the province, a friendly commercial city set in lush surroundings. The streets are lined with jacaranda and flamboyant trees and the city boasts excellent sporting facilities. From Nelspruit good roads radiate to the game reserves of the lowveld, the mountains and the historic towns.

In the area east and south of Nelspruit you'll find the historic towns of Barberton, Komatipoort, Kaapmuiden and Badplaas. Barberton was the center of the local gold rush and the facade of Africa's first stock exchange, which was built in 1887, still stands.

Prospectors combed the area during the late 19th century gold rush. Visitors are transported back to those days in the village of Pilgrim's Rest, a national monument.

On the escarpment and highveld areas small towns like Machadodorp, Belfast, Waterval Boven, Lydenburg, Sabie and Graskop dotted the skyline.

Groblersdal
Groblersdal originated because of the irrigation scheme of the Loskop Dam. The primal crops are cotton, citrus, groundnuts, sunflowers, vegetables, grapes, soya beans, paprika, corn and tobacco.

Hazyview
In the heart of the Lowveld, a few kilometres outside the Kruger National Park and close to scenic wonders like God's Window and Blyde River Canyon, Hazyview is perfectly positioned for exploring this enchanting region.

Komatipoort
Started out as a railway construction worker's camp, the town is today is a railway and customs centre (to Mozambique) and provides access to the Kruger Park.

Lydenburg
Painters, wood carvers, stained glass artists, botanical sketch artist are just some of the talented artists residing in this area. Also an eco-traveller and adventure fundi's paradise. It is within easy reach of world-renowned attractions.

Malelane
Malelane is situated in the lush Crocodile River Valley very close to the Kruger National Park. It is only 43km from the Mocambique border and within reach of a quick day trip to Maputo.
