 Gauteng, the smallest but most densely populated province in South
Africa, is a cosmopolitan metropole.
The main cities are Johannesburg and Pretoria with Sandton, Vereeniging, Vanderbijlpark,
Germiston, Roodepoort, Centurion and Krugersdorp some of the other major cities within the
metropole.

Heidelberg - Gauteng
Heidelberg is situated at the foot of the Suikerbosrand. In 1975 the Rembrandt Group opened the Transport Museum.
Johannesburg
Johannesburg unlike other cities was not founded near water but came from the financial waters left behind.
Krugersdorp
The site of the December 1880 gathering at which more than 6 000 men vowed to fight for the Transvaal's independence.
Magaliesburg
Situated on the border of Gauteng and North West, flanked by the Magaliesberg Mountain Range, a stunningly beautiful arena of coniferous forests, crisp streams and rolling hills. This tourism office will help you organise your getaway.
Midrand

Pretoria

Soweto
Soweto, the most widely-known township in the world, is massive, dusty, cosmopolitan - it is home to the people. With heritage sites, restaurants & shebeens aplenty, Soweto is well worth visiting.
Vanderbijlpark
The town which forms Southern Gauteng's border along the Vaal River, was proclaimed in 1949.
Vereeniging
The Afrikaans word for 'uniting' aptly describes the self-sufficient town of Vereniging.
