The African Art Centre is unique in S.A. as an outlet for a wide range of creative cutural works. This non-profit project is based in Durban and aims to promote the traditional artistic heritage of African people.

This art gallery promotes and sells original works of arts, sculpture, beadwork, tapestries, rugs, ceramics and carving from the Zulu and Xhosa tradition.
The African Art Centre is a non-profit development project that aims to promote the traditional artistic heritage of African people and encourage the transition from traditional to contemporary trends in a changing society by providing incentives for artists and craftspeople by assisting individuals and facilitating self-help projects to provide an income for rural people, particularly in KwaZulu-Natal.
Art works include:
-Beadwork: Traditional and contemporary.
-Beaded cloth sculptures and dolls.
-Baskets: Traditional grass and telephone wire.
-Ceramics: Traditional Zulu beer pots.
-Fabrics.: Handpainted, beaded, embroidered.
-Woodcarvings: Meatplatters, spoons.
-Weavings: Rugs and tapestries.
Many of the craftspeople - especially women - are the sole wage earners of their families and have supported and educated their children through ongoing marketing of their goods through the centre.
Many of the artists that have been encouraged and developed through the African Art Centre, have become well known in South African and internationally.
