Clico is perfectly situated in the leafy, central Rosebank, an upmarket suburb of South AfricaÂ’s commercial centre, Johannesbug.
Housed in a 60-year old Cape Dutch house, Clico is an engaging mix of old and new – from the original Oregon pine floorboards and antique inlaid-wood side tables from Morocco, to custom-made, comfortable couches and the modern, whimsical sculptures by Anton Smit.
Clico is poised to cater for upmarket corporate guests as well as leisure-seeking tourists. Whether youÂ’re after wireless internet from a plush armchair, or a perfect martini made with Tanqueray gin after a tour to Soweto or the Cradle of Humankind, weÂ’re here to indulge you.
Accommodation
We offer seven luxurious rooms, all with beautifully fitted en-suite bathroom, mini-bar, feather-soft, extra-length bed, flat-screen TV with a range of satellite channels, desk-cum-dressing table, air-conditioning and under-carpet heating.
Six of the rooms have balconies, while the seventh opens onto the garden. One room is wheelchair-accessible.
The rooms are individually furnished in warm, earthy browns, creams and soft greens, while the bathrooms are luxuriously appointed, from the designer taps to the light fittings which double as heaters. Most of the furniture has been custom-made for Clico by Dilly LillÂ’s, trendsetters in hotel furnishings.
The modern décor complements the old-fashioned house, gently juxtaposing old and new in a manner guests will find relaxing and familiar.
Business services include telephones in the rooms, wireless internet and ADSL, fax, scanning and photocopying facilities, to keep guests in contact with the outside world while in a tranquil environment. Secure parking on the premises.
The common lounge area boasts a fully stocked “honesty bar”, from which guests can help themselves while warming up in front of a log fire in winter, or cooling down on an outside patio or beside the pool in summer.
The landscaped gardens make the escape from city life complete. A “Fairy Garden”, incorporating an extensive wooden deck, is available for private functions, such as intimate weddings.
How to get there:
Upon exiting the airport, keep right, following the signs for the R24 / Johannesburg. This road joins the highway. Continue straight on the R24 (N3) / Johannesburg.
Nine kilometers after leaving the airport, move into the centre right lane. You will then merge with the N3 highway. Follow the signs for the N3 / N1 / Pretoria. Take the fork to the right.
Immediately after this fork, turn left onto the interchange, and continue following the N3 / N1 / Pretoria signs. Take the first off-ramp to Linksfield Road. At the traffic light, turn right into Linksfield Road.
At the second set of traffic lights, turn right into Club Road. Continue along this road for several kilometres, eventually crossing over Louis Botha Avenue. You will notice a MacDonaldÂ’s on your left-hand side as you do so.
When you reach a T-junction, turn right into Pretoria Road. Pretoria Road becomes Glenhove Road. Continue along Glenhove Road, crossing over the M1 highway. At the second set of traffic lights after the highway, turn right into Oxford Road.
At the foruth set of traffic lights, turn left into Jellico Road. At the second set of traffic lights, turn right into Bath
Turn left at the T-Junction into Rosebank Road. Take a left at the next street into Sturdee Avenue. Continue straight until you get to the stop sign.
