The moment you enter the guest house through the big double doors you are greeted by an unexpected sight of an indoor waterfall and fishpond. As the guests book in, fish inquisitively pop up for greetings. Immediately you feel at home.
Even more so, if your hostess shows you all the treasures to make you stay comfortable – the cozy lounge with the big fire place where you can sample our local wines, the verandah and the magical garden.
The lounge leads onto an exquisite long verandah with a reed ceiling. Sipping you first cup of coffee on the verandah, you have a view over the lush garden with a black swimming pool and the Orange River valley where the fish eagles circle the skies.
Only 1km from CBD AG Bain’s House offer you peace of mind with a secure parking area. Our location makes your visit to Upington one of comfort, peace and quiet. Airport transfers, tourist maps, traveler information are available from you hostess.
Upington is strategically situated for visits to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, Augrabies Falls National Park and Witsand Nature Reserve.
Other interests in Upington is the grave of Scotty Smith, our own Robin Hood, the steam train at the Railway station, the avenue of Palm trees on the Island, Kanon Island, an agriculture centre, sunset cruises on the river, and a wine tasting and buying experience at the Orange River Wine Cellars – the second largest in the world.
This is also a land of contrasts with various scenic attractions and 4x4 trails for four-wheel drive enthusiast.
Rooms
Main suite with beautiful view over the garden and the Orange River Valley. Spacious bathroom with big oval bath. This room is ideal for honeymooners and executives.
Deluxe double room, also inside the house with all the luxuries of the main suite, just slightly smaller in size.
Deluxe twin is a lovely big room with twin beds. This room is outside the house and the most private of them all.
Our self catering unit can sleep four people in two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two single beds. This room has a private bathroom, kitchenette and braai. Also outside the house it is ideal for a family or business person staying for a longer period.
The standard rooms are our latest addition to Bain's House. These are also outside and with all the features of our other rooms.
