PLEASE NOTE: Midmar is fully booked for the Midmar Mile 2013.

Midmar Dam and nature reserve, with its large expanse of fresh water, extensive meandering shore line, open grasslands, good road network, outdoors action and recreation facilities makes it an exciting family destination.

Situated near Pietermaritzburg and Howick, this beautiful dam on the Umgeni River is situated in the middle of the Midlands Meander (an association of rural businesses selling curios, art, crafts, foodstuffs and furniture and providing restaurants and accommodation.)

This tranquil setting provides opportunities for a wide variety of sporting activities, including water sports, cycling, walking, game viewing, angling or just lying back at one of the many picnic sites with the tantalising smell of many barbecues wafting through the air and the green hills of KwaZulu Natal framed between water and sky.

Visitors can visit the wildlife park, which features a variety of antelope and small game species.

During weekends and peak periods, bicycles, windsurfers, canoes and yachts can be hired and launch tours and sunset cruises can be booked by prior arrangement.

The curio shop sells cool drinks and sweets.

Thank you for a pleasant stay. Will definitely return. Had a problem with people in no 1. Played thumping hard music until 02h00 Sunday morning. They were very inconsiderate. That said the Establishment is very nice. It would help to have a 24 hour emergency number on arrival to address a problem like mentioned above and of course very serious matters.

Although the chalets at Midmar are older and not very modern they are still very spacious and comfortable with everything that you need. Maybe a bit of modernizing of the interior decor would brighten them up. It was a lovely comfortably stay.

Very good value for money... maybe cheaper rates during off peak season...maybe put in a small pool near by and have a jungle gym etc for the little kids. Also a small picket fences that secure little pets....a holiday is not the same with the family pet not being there.
