Aquila Private Game Reserve is named after the rare and endangered resident Black Eagles and boasts a breathtakingly beautiful 7500 hectare Karoo conservancy. (18 500 acres).
Proudly, for the first time in 250 years one can experience a Big-5, day trip safari under 2 hours from Cape Town, where visitors can enjoy a game drive experience amongst lions and other members of the Big 5 as well as an enormous variety and amount of safari wildlife.
These magnificent creatures once again roam the Karoo mountains, valleys, rivers and kloofs. The Reserve is set in the Capes malaria free famous Fynbos, Succulent Karoo and extremely rare Renosterveld vegetation that was once the favorite hunting grounds of the ancient Khoi/San hunter-gatherers.
Aquila is proudly home to an array of Khoi/San rock-art. Solar Renewable Energy
Aquila Private Game Reserve has installed the first 10 panel 60kW CPV solar power facility, which means all the reserves daily energy requirements are covered by solar power and in this way reducing our carbon footprint.

Hotel pick-up & transfer. Welcome drink Coffee, Rusks & Croissants on arrival 2-3 hour Big-5 game drive in 4x4 Safari vehicles with an experienced ranger guide. Visit a Khoi-San bushmen Rock Art site. Visit adjacent ARC (Aquila Animal Rescue & Conservation Centre) and view a Cheetah & Lion Sanctuary.
Lunch in an African Boma restaurant Free Visit to the nearby Karoo Ostrich Farm. Browse our African curio shop, relax at one of our spectacular swimming pools or enjoy a roaring fire & a cigar in our thatched colonial lounge. Return to Cape Town.
Hosre Back OR Quad Bike Safari
Same as day trip, replacing the game drive with a horseback or a quad bike safari.
Day Trip Combo:
Same as day trip, includes a morning game drive and a hour horseback or quad bike safari after lunch. Fly In Safari Experience a 30min helicopter or airplane flight over the winelands and magnificent Hex River Valley Mountains. Return flight over Robben Island and the V&A Waterfront.

Aquila Animal Rescue & Conservation Centre:
ARC is situated on a separate piece of land directly opposite the main entrance of the Reserve. Aquila has invested over R1 million building a large outdoor sanctuary comprising of several 1 hectare fenced camps where once doomed canned lionsĀ can live out the remainder of their lives. ARC is also home to rescued leopard and cheetahs that will become part of a cheetah breeding programme. (complimentary visit with every safari booked)
Social Upliftment Programmes:
Aquila is very proud to be the largest job creator, providing over 120 jobs to the previously disadvantaged community of Touwsriver, a town with a 97% Unemployment rate. Aquila also sponsors the local cricket team as well as a full time school teacher. Our plans include the provision of a much needed resident doctor. Aquila is proud to have been a finalist of FEDHASA prestigious Imvelo Responsible Tourism awards for 3 consecutive years.
