Die Berghut (or Mountain Hut) is absolutely something different and the ideal retreat for the nature lover.
It is situated in the Zastron district of the Eastern Free State highland on the farm Groenhoek, 4km up in the mountain.
The Berhut offers self catering accommodation and it is fully equipped with sleeping facilities and a very neat little bathroom.
It is the perfect mountain gateway for stressed urban dwellers who want a complete break.
Die Berghut offers a haven of peace, quiet and security for the whole family and is relaxing breakaway form the pressures of modern city life.
Please note a min. stay of 2 nights or double tarif for one night's stay.

"Die Berghut" is situated under a big rock, where 4 people can sleep.
There is also a caravan where 3 people can sleep.
Fully equipped (you only need to bring your own towels). Bathroom with shower under the rock.

Hiking up the mountain on a 7km route - looking out over the Maluti Mountains.

Farm dam, which can be enjoyed on hot summer days.
How to get there
From Bloemfontein or Aliwal North take the R26 to Zastron
Take the R726 to Sterkspruit and turn of the first road left S367.
About 15 km from there turn of at the "GROENHOEK" sign to your right to go to the main house.
From there you will be escorted to "Die Berghut"
Only accessible with a 4wd or bakkie, if you don't have one, we will take you up while your car is parked in garage at the main house.
