Pungwe Bush Camp

Average Guest Rating:

Pungwe Bush Camp is situated in the southern portion of the Manyeleti Game Reserve, along the Pungwe River course and is known for its exclusivity and rustic ambience.

Manyeleti Game Reserve is situated in the wildlife rich region of the Limpopo Province Lowveld which forms part of the world-renowned Greater Kruger National Park and hosts a similar variety of wildlife, including the `Big five`.

The birdlife is prolific, with over 300 recorded species.

The name `Manyeleti`, in the local Shangaan language means `Place of the Stars` and guests may spend a memorable moment watching a magnificent Southern Constellation, with the pride of place taken up by the Southern Cross.

Rooms:

The camp houses a maximum of eight guests in uniquely constructed thatched and canvas units that are positioned to enhance this great bush experience.

Each room has a washbasin, waterborne toilet and a hot and cold water shower and bath en-suite.

At Pungwe we pride ourselves on our 'Home Cuisine' cuisine, with certain meals still prepared over an open fire.

Activities:

Walking is the most emphasised activity. To walk through the bushveld in the company of an experienced, armed safari guide is to experience the essence of Africa.

Game drives in an open Land Rover are a standard feature and are conducted both during the day and at night using a spotlight.

How to get there:

See Map
From Johannesburg or Pretoria travel to Witbank and continue to Nelspruit.
Turn northwards to Klaserie and at Klaserie follow the signs to the Orpen Gate of Kruger Park.
Proceed to the entrance gate of the Manyeleti Game Reserve from where directions to Pungwe will be provided.

Health & Climate:

Please note that the Manyeleti forms part of a MALARIA AREA. It is therefore advisable to take anti-malaria precautions beforehand. Consult your doctor for advice.

Pungwe Bush Camp Reviewed by Kuduku Mowa on 6 January 2009
The establishment is very pleasant, educational and experiential of African origin. The courtesy of the owner and staff at Pungwe is wonderful and unforgettable let alone the food especially the scones of which I still need the recipe. I would not mind eating them everyday of my life.
