Didima Camp, with a unique blend of ancient cultural heritage and modern luxury, evokes the atmosphere of Bushman culture within the magnificent mountain setting of Cathedral Peak valley.

Winding up the narrow road approaching the camp, the Drakensberg mountain splendor beckons, with sweeping panoramas of jagged mountain peaks rising from massive sandstone cliffs, and dramatic cloudscapes against an impossibly blue sky.

The luxurious Didima Camp has been themed around the art of the San people.

Experience the beauty of the mountains an the fascinating San history from the comfort of this resort.

Rock Art Centre
The Didima camp boasts their recently opened San Rock Art Interpretive Centre providing fascinating insights into the art and culture of the San, and includes static displays and audio-visual presentations within a reconstructed rock shelter.

The Drakensberg Park is one of the most densely painted regions in Africa, if not the entire world, containing some 550 known San rock painting sites, amounting to over 40 000 recorded individual images.

Archaeological evidence has shown the San lived in this area from approximately 8 000 years ago.



Rooms
Didima camp features 62 two-bed luxury chalets, 2 four-bed cabins, a two-bed honeymoon suite and a six-bed bungalow.

Each of the two-bed chalets are back to back and an interleading door allows the two chalets to be converted into a four-bed family unit with self-catering facilities.

The two four-bed cabins have two bedrooms each en-suite, a lounge/dining area and a kitchen, and the six-bed chalet has three bedrooms, each with en-suite facilities, a lounge/dining area and a kitchen.

All accommodation at Didima boasts satellite television and cosy fireplaces.

All the units at the camp consist of single beds. No double beds available in the camp, except in the Honeymoon Suite.

Walking and Hiking Trails into the surrounding mountains
Guided Trails up Mike’s Pass
Guided Walking trails to Rainbow Gorge, Baboon Rock and a variety of other scenic destinations
San Art Rock in-camp Trail
Braais in the Boma or at the Gazebo

Mountain streams with rock pools within walking distance of the Camp

How to get there See Map
From the N3 in the vacinity of Estcourt take the Winterton /Colenso off-ramp and at Winterton turn left at the Engen service station and follow the signs to Cathedral Peak.

Office Hours:
The office is open from 08h00 to 12h30 and from 14h00 to 16h30
Sundays: 08h00 to 12h30 and 14h00 to 15h00
