At the foot of a solid rock face, off the main road of Springbok, the Old Mill Lodge nestles among tall trees, offering a cool haven for the weary and discerning traveler.

Listen to the birdsong and watch the desert sun set while you braai and plan your trip to the Goegap Nature Reserve or a 4x4 adventure into the Richtersveld.

Enjoy a nourishing breakfast on request before you walk into town the next morning to do business or to visit the Jewish Museum or the Blue Mine or Van Der Stel mine, first one in operation in South Africa.

Enjoy the feeling of freedom while looking at endless horizons. This area is made up of extremes. After good rains the whole of Namaqualand is turned into a flower splendor with no equal in the world.


Rooms:

All our rooms are equiped with TV, air conditioning/heating, electric blankets and electric insect repelent.

Each room has en-suite bathroom with bath and shower, hairdrier and toiletries.

Self help coffee and tea facacilities available in communal kitchens equiped with fridge, stove, microwave, kettle, cutlery and crockery.

A vase of sherry and decorative sweets finish the picture.

Activities:

Springbok is the base from where endless tours and safaris are started to the Richtersveld and Namaqualand Diamond coast.

Go on a 4x4 trip out to the Goegap Nature reserve and really experience the freedom of Namaqualand, or go on an excursion into the Richtersveld National Park and visit the biggest mountain desert in the southern hemisphere.

Some of the rare birds of southern africa occurs in this area, for instance the Red Lark.

The price for this establishment is quite high compared to guesthouses of similar standard in Springbok. I am a fairly regular patron and the price over the past year has escalated considerably. The rooms are comfortable, privacy is great and the breakfast is fair.
