Sewula Gorge Lodge is a four star, exclusive, luxury, fully serviced, self-catering lodge, built at the base of a waterfall, on the rivers edge, in a spectacular Gorge.

It is situated in KwaZulu-Natal between the towns of Estcourt and Mooi River on a working cattle farm, within a nature reserve area.

Staying at Sewula Gorge Camp Lodge means you don't have to do anything except absorb the peace of the amazing environment, sleep, read, socialise, loaf and recharge your batteries.

The river in front of the camp is bilharzia free so sunbathing and swimming in the pools is easy.

Sewula is particularly suited to small groups of family or friends or business colleagues who enjoy the informality of self catering with the benefit of helpful staff to wash up and generally assist.

Sewula offers you:
* Small, private, intimate and secluded Lodge in a gorge below a waterfall within the Rensburg Koppie Natural Heritage Site.

* Easy of access (15 minutes) from the N3 Highway between Estcourt and Mooi River in KwaZulu-Natal

* Built with discreetly provided modern conveniences and fully serviced to set new standards in relaxed self catering

* A Bald Ibis nesting colony, a rich variety of indigenous trees, pools and cliffs in the riverbed, various historical sites, a cattle ranch for fishing and cycling and a region offering the Drakensberg, the Midlands Meander, Battlefields as well as sporting opportunities

* Free of malaria and bilharzia

* Exclusive use of Lodge.

Rooms
The lodge has four en-suite cottages (basically bedrooms) with their own balconies.

Three of these have twin beds and showers and one has a double bed with a bath and shower.

These are all fed by a main central building, which has the kitchen, lounge and dining room in it.

The lodge is fully serviced, with a very well equipped modern kitchen. We provide our guests with all their linen and towels, and firewood.

Our staff does all the washing up; the rooms twice a day with a turn down at night, (where tea, coffee, Rooibos and home made rusks are put into the rooms), light your fire in the lounge fireplace for you, and generally try to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

Due to the nature of the lodge, bookings are restricted to only one group at a time.

The rooms all have a fan, heater, hairdryer, toiletries, International convertible plug, and a wall safe.

There are cots available, a self-braai facility, covered parking and your laundry can be done on request.

Children are welcome.

Activities
If you want to walk, Sewula offers much. There are clearly marked paths and guides.

The delightful shaded river walk can be extended by swimming in the rock pools and spending time at the Bald Ibis nesting site.

A fine example of an iron-age (14th Century) 'fortified hill site' is easy of access and immediately behind Sewula.

Of great interest is the Rensburg Koppie National Monument where in 1838 a small group of Voortrekkers escaped being killed by Zulu soldiers by fleeing to the stony hillock next to the iron-age hill.

There is a steep but gentle walk to an Anglo-Boer War 1899 defensive position with its dry-packed stone 'sangas' clearly visible.

The surrounding cattle ranch offers mountain bike tracks, dam fishing as well as pleasant and easy walks.

If one wants to get into a motorcar then there is a treasure trove of activities. Estcourt town has all sporting facilities, good supermarkets and other services.

The Drakensberg is an hour away, as are the Battlefield sites on the Tugela line and the Midlands Meander is reached within half an hour.
