Isandlwana Lodge

Average Guest Rating:

The Lodge is carved into the iNyoni Rock formation on tip of which the Zulu commander stood during the battle of Isandlwana.

Enjoy unparalleled views from the crisp early light of a sparkling Zulu dawn to the splendour of the African sunset.

Isandlwana Lodge offers twelve luxury rooms all en-suite and tastefully decorated in a mixture of traditional and modern styles.

Unwind in our rock pool after a day on the battlefields. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the library where you can bone up on your history.

Make new friends in the pleasant surroundings of our lounge and allow our specialist chef to provide you with some of the best food in KwaZulu Natal. Or just relax on your private balcony.

Rooms:

All rooms face the historic and scenically beautiful Isandlwana Valey with a view of the mountain.

Isandlwana Lodge has a boardroom and is the ideal location for executive conferences or team-building getaways, where groups can benefit from our unique concepts developed and built around the battles by our historian Rob Gerrard.

Activities:

The adjoining Umfolozi and Hluhluwe game reserves, (the most long-established on the continent) host "The Big Five" (elephant, rhino, lion, leopard, and buffalo) but are perhaps best known for the part they played in preventing the total extinction of Africa's rhino population. Both the black and white species of rhino are found here.

How to get there:

Isandlwana is situated in the scenic Midlands of KwaZulu Natal just one and a half hours from Ladysmith and three and a half hours by road from the coastal resort of Durban, or four and a ahalf hours from Johannesburg.

This was a great place to stay, nothing was too much trouble and we were well looked after. The lodge is beautifully appointed and has stunning views from the public rooms and bedrooms. Rob Gerrard the resident historian brought the battles of Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift to life for us. Plenty of time needs to be allowed for the journey to the lodge as the surrounding roads are poor and care needs to be taken. We would thoroughly recommend this lodge.
