Sirheni (Bushveld Camp) - Kruger Park

The camp lies on the banks of the Sirheni Dam about 54 km from Punda Maria Restcamp on the Shingwedzi Road (H17), within the Mopane veld of the region and only a few km west of the Babalala picnic spot.

The Sirheni Dam, on the Mphongo River, lies next to the camp. A hide on the perimeter fence overlooks the dam, and a wide variety of game and birds are attracted to it. Lion and hyaena are regulars, as there are often kills at the dam.

There is a 10km stretch of private road restricted to the residents of Sirheni Bush Camp.

Solar panels provide electricity for lights and fans only. Refrigerators do not have freezing compartments, but a communal freezer is available. Barbecue facilities and open parking is available. The nearest shop is at the Shingwedzi Restcamp.

Units are serviced and bedding, towels and soap are provided. Night drives and day excursions are on offer.


Rooms:

10 x 2-bedroom cottages (6 persons per cottage). Both bedrooms have two single beds and a ceiling fan. One bedroom has a bathroom en suite (with bath, toilet and washbasin). There is a separate bathroom with a shower, toilet and washbasin.

The lounge/diningroom has two bench-beds and a ceiling fan. The kitchen has a gas stove (with oven), refrigerator, sink, cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery. Each cottage has an open veranda.

5 x 1-bedroom cottages (4 persons per cottage). The bedroom has a ceiling fan and two single beds. The lounge/diningroom has two bench-beds and a ceiling fan. The bathroom (with bath, toilet and washbasin) has interleading doors to the bedroom and the lounge.

There is an open-plan kitchen with a two-plate gas stove (without oven), refrigerator, sink, cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery.

1. Accommodation rates do not include Conservation Fees which are payable at the entrance gates.
2. Please ensure that you are familiar with the Rules & Regulations of National Parks before making a booking.

How to get there:

From Johannesburg / Pretoria to Punda Maria Gate:
Take the N1 to Polokwane (Pietersburg), at Makhado (Louis Trichard) link up with the R524 follow this route for ±140 kms and that will take you to the gate.
Allow between 5 to 6 hours for the trip to the gate. Sirheni Camp is 60 km away from the gate.
Allow about 2.5 hours for the drive to the camp.

Regulations when Exiting the Park:
In order to improve overall controls some changes have been made to the check-out process at camps in the Kruger National Park and your assistance and co-operation is kindly requested in this regard.

Guests are reminded that only guests with valid exit permits will be allowed to exit the park. For day visitors these are issued upon entry at gates and for overnight guests these are issued by the last camp on the guest itinerary.

The staff were helpful and the setting was absolutely brilliant - we will be back. The units could use upgrading but there was nothing that didn't work.
