The Karongwe Game Reserve is an untamed garden of eden where the spoor of wildlife invites you to explore the timeless beauty of the bush; where an oasis of unimaginable luxury provides the greatest vantage point to the Big Five and its vast, untouched wilderness.
Created by private landowners the Karongwe Private Game Reserve comprises 8 500ha of African bushveld and is situated east of the Drakensberg Mountains in the Limpopo Province.

The landscape within the reserve is characterized by undulating terrain, interspersed with rocky outcrops.
Game is plentiful on the Reserves including elephant, rhino, lion, leopard, buffalo, wild dog, cheetah, spotted and brown hyena, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, kudu, bushbuck, steenbok, duiker, impala, waterbuck, blackbacked and sidestriped jackal, honey badger, baboon, vervet monkey, mongoose, warthog, bushpig, tortoise; special nocturnal creatures are porcupine, aardvark, civet, genet, caracal, serval and spring hare.
Water species are hippo, crocodile, otter and terrapins. Lot's of bird species are seen, especially at the big dams and along the rivers.Accommodation

By road from Johannesburg and Pretoria:
N4 to Belfast follow through to Dullstroom and Lydenburg
Take R36 to Ohrigstad and Strijdom tunnel
From tunnel continue about 10km
Turn left and continue on the R36 in the direction of Tzaneen
After about 20km you'll find the signboards for the various lodges.
Closest airport is Hoedspruit (Eastgate airport). SA Express has daily flights between Johannesburg and Hoedspruit around midday.
Clothing & Accessories:
Dress code is bushveld casual and lightweight, but a sweater may be required.
During the winter, June, July and August warm clothes are necessary during early morning and at night.
A hat, sunscreen, flashlight and binoculars will add pleasure to your stay.
Health & Climate:
Precaution against malaria is necessary.
