Cranberry Cottage

Grading: Average Guest Rating:

Cranberry Cottage is a lovely colonial-style retreat on the Eastern Free State Maloti Route - a scenic route through the Eastern Free State bordering Lesotho.

It is perfectly situated for visiting the Lesotho Highlands, as well as the local lion breeding project, bushman paintings, potters and weavers.

Unwind in warm Free State hospitality while you stretch out in your spacious luxury suite. Crisp linen, sparkling bathrooms – all the modern amenities you could desire.

An infusion of modern and traditional cuisine served in our romantic duck pond restaurant - we are fully licensed.

During the summer months breakfasts are served on the patio under the grape-vines and in winter, in the cosy dining room beside the logfire. Vegetarians are especially catered for.

I liked how the rooms were spread out back in the complex. The complex was very scenic and cozy, even with ducks in some of the ponds. I stayed for 4 days. The room was comfortable. I had to have instructions on how to turn on the gas heat after the first night, but they were basic and easy. There was an extra blanket in the closet and a down covering on the bed with lots of pillows. The bed was large and firm. I did not use the refrigerator, Jacuzzi, coffee pot or separate outside patio, but it was nice to have available. I also did not partake in meals while I was there so I can not comment on the food other than it was available. The bathroom floor had heat coming from it, which was nice when coming out of the shower or standing in the bathroom. There were adequate TV channels available. The staff was pleasant and the office had brochures to help make my stay more enjoyable. I would come back again.
