Black Mountain Leisure & Conference Hotel, approximately 400 kilometres south-east from Johannesburg and 80 kilometers east of Bloemfontein, is situated in the heart of The Maria Moroka Nature Reserve which is home to Rhino, Buffalo, Wildebeest, Zebra, a host of different antelope species as well as abundance of bird life and overlooks the Groothoek Dam and the Thaba ‘Nchu Mountain, meaning “Black Mountain”.

The vast public areas are under interlinked pyramids, whose patterned walls and grey slate roofs fit perfectly into the surrounding landscape.

Black Mountain, previously Thaba Nchu Sun, is carved from a hillside of unspoilt bush.

Black Mountain overlooks a dam and 5 800 hectares of game reserve. A celebration of African traditional architecture, the design of the hotel combines luxury and elegance demanded of a sophisticated resort. Public areas are under interlinked pyramids, whose patterned walls and grey slate roofs fit into the landscape.

The hotel has 118 en-suite rooms, all elegantly funished and decorated, in spectacular surroundings.

Dining facilities include a restaurant, terrace, Residents Lounge and several bars.

Leisure and sporting facilities include a fully-equipped gymnasium with sauna and jacuzzi, entertainment centre for children, sundowner cruises, fishing and a Solarium.

Conferencing at Black Mountain comprises 6 venues, with seating from 27 to 400 in a range of seating styles.



Rooms
Accommodation at Black Mountain ranges from standard twin rooms to a Presidential Suite. All rooms are en-suite, elegantly furnished and decorated, with private garden or balcony and unrestricted scenic views.

The luxury suites include a separate lounge and dining area, while the Presidential Suite also has a kitchen and guest cloakroom.

The Solarium, which opens onto a half-moon shaped sunny terrace, has one of the largest heated and aerated spas in the southern hemisphere, as well as a gymnasium, three massage rooms and two saunas
An 118-seater cinema offers some of the latest feature films.
The Magic Company, which has a creche for children aged 2 and upwards, has various game machines for kids 4 to 12 years of age, as well as action-packed programmes by Kamp Kwena in season.

How to get there
From Johannesburg:

Take the N1 to Bloemfontein.
Approximately 75kms before Bloemfontein, TURN LEFT to Verkeerdevlei
Continue with this road, passing Verkeerdevlei, Excelsior and Tweespruit
At the stop street after Tweespruit, TURN RIGHT to Thaba Nchu
Continue straight on until you see the Black Mountain Hotel signs and TURN LEFT for approximately 17km.

From Cape Town:
Take the N1 to Bloemfontein
Take the AIRPORT turn off and carry on straight with the R64 to Thaba Nchu
TURN RIGHT at the Black Mountain sign.
