Natal Spa Hot Springs & Leisure Resort

Grading: Average Guest Rating:

The invigorating and healing qualities of hot mineral waters have been known for centuries. The waters that are found at The Natal Spa have the added benefit of being "Triple Waters" i.e they contain carbonates, chlorides and sulphates and have a temperature, at source, of 40 degrees C.

The historic spring was discovered in the 1880's and since then has provided a constant supply of the beneficial waters.

The Natal Spa was developed around this very valuable resource and has provided solace and refuge for the weary traveller since the 1890's.

The Natal Spa resort and Conference Centre is set in 800 acres of beautiful KZN bushveld. We have access to +/- 4 kms of the magnificent Bivane River that flows through our property and lends a sense of tranquility to our surrounds.

Our gardens are lush with lawns, trees and shrubs and together with or riverine system, these ideal habitats have given rise to the bountiful bird life that we enjoy.

Nearly 100 species of bird have been identified at the Natal Spa and we are home to a pair of breeding Crowned Eagles.

The Spa is known for it's cuisine - our "farm-style" breakfasts are inclusive and you have a choice from our extensive and sumptuous al-a-carte menu in the evening.

A superb carvery buffet is also sometimes on offer.

The Spa is situated on the historic "Battlefields" route - 35 kms from Vryheid in Northern Kwazulu Natal. It is equidistant from Durban and Johannesburg - only 3,5 hours from either centre and ideal for an overnight stop or a weekend getaway.

Upon arrival there was nobody to welcome the guests. The evening dinner was not communicated at all and nobody was available at the desk to welcome the guests for dinner. If we had not paid up front for the acommodation we would have left. Upon departure we received an account for the full amount although we had paid the accommodation in full two weeks prior. Front desk was very disorganised. The only place where we had good service was at the bar. The spledour of the nature and the pool area is the only thing that will ensure another visit from myself and my family.

The service was good but the buildings need an update. Also be more lenient about check-in times? To arrive 15min before check-in time after a long drive and then need to wait is not very hospitable?

My stay at Natal Spa can not be described in abetter word than marvellous. The staff, from reception, kiosk, bistro, management and housekeeping, every single one, are all very attentive and friendly, catering to your every need! The food is excellent, the tranquility and peaceful scenery are fuel, for a tired soul. I've enjoyed myself tremendously it is truly a place I will visit again soon.
