Mfubu Lodge & Gallery



Hippo Lodge Mfubu is a small secluded lodge on the banks of Olifants River in the unspoiled wilderness of Africa. It is part of the 30 000 ha of private Balule nature reserve.

The Main Camp nestles under the green canopy of indigenous trees in full view of the river.

Three thatched timber chalets on stilts are connected by aerial walkway with two bathrooms (hot and cold water, two showers, one bath), lounge with bar, TV, pooltable, dart and kitchen area which is fully equipped for self-catering with braai, electric grill, stove and fridges/freezers.


Rooms:

Each chalets has four beds, chest of drawers, dressing table, ceiling fan and own deck.
Two sparkling swimming pools in the midst of tropical garden offer a refreshing dip.Next to the pool at the river is situated a new open air dining room with grill and fridge.

The Timber cottage is secluded from the main camp and offers total privacy for a couple or a family. Hidden in the trees on stilts at the river with own bathroom (hot and cold water, shower) fully equipped kitchenette and braai area.

The Stone cottage is thatched with own bathroom ensuite, braai and a long river bank to view. A high wooden bridge leads across a deep gulley to an inviting swimming pool in the middle of the bush. At night both the pool and the bridge is illuminated.

game drive in open Landrover in adjoining "big five" game reserve.

How to get there:


From Jo’burg N12, from Pretoria N4, thro' Witbank to Belfast. Left on R540 to Lydenberg, then R36 through Strijdom Tunnel following signs to Phalaborwa. Turn right onto R526 to Mica. 22km from Mica on R530 turn R on dirt road following Mfubu signs.

Expect the unexpected! We are not fenced, in a BIG 5 reserve and wild animal roam freely! Kulungi is in Balule Reserve which is part of Kruger Park - famous for its Wildlife. We have 5 thatched chalets - 2 are Self-catering & 2 luxury safari tents.
