Panzi Bushcamp

Panzi (the local word for 'down below' or 'on the ground') Bushcamp is situated in the Guernsey Private Nature Reserve, in the Limpopo province of South Africa.

Only 45 minutes to Kruger Park's Orpen Gate and an hour and a half to Phalaborwa Gate, Panzi is ideally located for those wanting to explore the area's many attractions, such as the Panorama Route, Blyde River Canyon, Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre and the Hoedspruit Cheetah Project.

Panzi is a great stopover point for people entering Mozambique through the Giriyondo border post.

The nearby viewing deck looks over a waterhole and is the ideal spot to relax, spot game or watch the sun set over the Drakensberg mountains.

Panzi has a variety of game such as zebra, wildebeest, nyala, impala, giraffe, leopard and buffalo, as well as smaller nocturnal creatures such as porcupine, honey badger, genet, civet and caracal.

Game drives, both in Panzi and to a neighbouring reserve can be arranged.

The best time of year for game viewing in the Lowveld is May - September. The summer months are best for birds, reptiles, insects and trees. This is a low risk malaria area, so precautions are advised.

Accommodation
The enchanting 16 bed camp is hidden in a wooded gully, the rooms joined by wooden walkways which meander through the indigenous bush.

Enjoy a delicious African dinner before settling into your thatched hut for the evening.

A hot shower in the en-suite bathroom or a refreshing swim in the camp's rock pool will prepare you for a peaceful night. Fans, mosquito nets and three-quarter beds add to your comfort.

Let the sounds of the African night lull you to sleep.

See Map
From Nelspruit, travel North on the R40 and turn right on to the R531 (Orpen Road).
From Hoedspruit or Klaserie you would take the R40 South and turn left on to the Orpen Road.
About 2km along the Orpen road you will see a sign saying Guernsey. Turn left on to the Guernsey Road (gravel road), pass through the control gate and drive for approximately 8 km until you see a sign saying Guernsey Private Nature Reserve on your right hand side.
Turn right and follow the signs to Panzi.
