Exeter Game Lodges

Exeter Game Lodges are situated in the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve. The reserve covers an area of 65000 hectares and is situated along the western edge of the Kruger National Park. Within the Reserve is a collection of the worlds finest Game Lodges of which Exeter ranks amongst the top.

The Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve was originally cut off from the greater Kruger National Park by a game proof fence, which was removed in 1993, allowing animals free movement between the Kruger National Park and the private reserves.

The name `Exeter` originates from the original British land surveyors who named the properties after towns and countries in England. Many properties changed their names, but for historical reasons, Exeter retained its original name.

Exeter has undergone a major refurbishment after the devastating floods of the early 2000's, but the original character has been retained although some of the buildings in the Lodge date back to the 1930`s and `1940`s.

Much has changed since those early days; but Exeter is still a wild part of Africa where lions roam free.

Lodges
Exeter offers the visitor a choice of 3 luxury Lodges:

River Lodge

Dulini Lodge

A Typical Day At Exeter
Wake up to the beautiful African sunrise at about 05h00 (in summer). Enjoy early morning tea/coffee before leaving on your first game drive.

Return from your early morning safari for a sumptuous breakfast at about 09h30. Afterwards enjoy a nature bush walk lead by our trained rangers and trackers. At about 13h30 enjoy the taste of African cuisine when lunch is served on the elevated thatched viewing deck.

The mid-afternoon tea/coffee with an assortment of snacks follows at 15h30. Depart on the open-air Land Rover for your Sundowner Safari while listening to the sounds of the African outdoors.

After your return to the lodge, you'll will have some time to freshen up before meeting in the boma for a delicious dinner at about 19h30.

Activities
Game Drives
Exeter is "Big Seven" country, and the area is world-renowned as the best venue for close up sightings of Africa's great cats - lion, leopard and cheetah. Open vehicle game drives with professional rangers and trackers allow you to experience wildlife at its finest.

Game Drive surprise
As part of the greater Kruger National Park conservancy, Exeter presents surprises in the form of the rare King cheetah, or one of Kruger's "Big Tusker" elephants.

Relax at the Lodge
A lazy afternoon siesta, suntan around the pool or a visit to our interestingly appointed curio shop which houses all that a discerning "bush shopper" may require is essential before the excitement of your early evening game drive or exciting bush walk.

Swimming Pool
Suites with private patios and plunge pools allow you to relax and enjoy the sight of a herd of elephants in the river below or perhaps a hippo surfacing in the waters.

How to get there
By Road
Recommended route from Johannesburg or Pretoria.
Take the N12, or N4 highway to Nelspruit and White River.
