Casart Game Lodge

Casart Game Lodge is situated in the unspoilt bush area of the breathtakingly beautiful nature reserve, Grietjie.

This private park (3000 ha in size), is fully integrated in the magnificent Balule Nature Reserve, which – with its 35000 ha – borders and has an open connection with the world-famous Kruger National Park.

The Oliphants river meanders its way through Balule and brings water to the parks the whole year round. At the river banks you’ll find hippos, crocodiles, etc. At Casart Game Lodge you’ll be immersed in serene peace and tranquility, alternating with real wildlife action.

The lodge was bought in July 2008 by Jan and Sonia Caspers - De Busschere, a Dutch-Belgian couple that during your stay, together with their staff, will assure you an extraordinary safari experience.

Accommodation:
Luxurious Rondavels: Casart Game Lodge has 2 double-bedded rondavels at its disposal. These both have their own private terrace with hot tub (jacuzzi).

Every rondavel comes with a king-size bed, separate toilet and a bathroom with bath and spacious shower.

4-Person Guesthouse: Casart Game Lodge also has a 4-person guesthouse, where self-catering is possible. This accommodation has 2 bedrooms and a bathroom with spacious shower. Both bedrooms have air-conditioning.

The kitchen is fully fitted to enable preparing yourself a good meal: a gas fire with 3 burners, refrigerator with freezer, microwave and all kitchen appliances you may need. There is also a BBQ.

Game Drives
The game drives, which take place both mornings and evenings, are an excellent opportunity to get to know the fauna and flora of Grietjie. Our English-speaking, highly qualified field guide will give you an unforgettable experience in his open vehicle. He will be happy to share his inexhaustible knowledge with you.

Bush Walks
Beside the daily game drives we also offer the opportunity to explore the bush in a more sporty manner under the guidance of our game ranger. A 2 to 3 hour walk will enable you to experience live the pure nature of the bush.

Sleeping Under the Stars
This really is an experience for daredevils. Our ranger takes you with him to the middle of the bush. Here, you’ll pass the night on a field mat with sleeping bag. A night watch is organised so that every participant watches over the others for 1 to 2 hours.

Massages
If you want to take it easy, you can enjoy a wonderfully relaxing massage, during which you can dream away while your body relaxes. These massages can be given on your own private deck.

Yoga Our teacher will be happy to teach you some basic yoga principles. These classes are suited for both beginners and more advanced yoga fans.

1. As from Johannesburg you take the N12 (N4 from Pretoria) to Witbank and Belfast, turn left to Belfast and take the R 540 in the direction of Dullstroom and Lydenburg.

2. From Lydenburg you take the R 36 in the direction of Tzaneen/ Hoedspruit. You drive past Orighstad and through the Strijdom tunnel.

3. After the tunnel (circa 14 km) you turn left in the direction of Phalaborwa (R36).

4. After 10 kilometers you turn left onto the R526 in the direction of Mica. After another 23km you arrive in Mica and turn left on the R40 to Phalaborwa.

6. About 20 km further on, you turn right onto the sand track to Grietjie. Follow the signs to Casart Game Lodge (about 8 km).
