Mont Plaisir Guest Farm

Mont Plaisir is a working asparagus and grain farm located 6 km out of Fouriesburg town with three luxurious self-catering units and one B&B in the historic Old Main House.

Fouriesburg offers you the fantastic scenery of the mountains, the splendid Golden Gate National Park and many historic sites from the Anglo-Boer War.

It is ideal for out-door activities, such as hiking, horse riding, fishing, hunting, 4x4, quad biking and abseiling, but for those who just want to relax it is also the place to be.

The Fouriesburg area is just a few kilometers from the Lesotho border and the ideal starting point for day trips to Lesotho, with its majestic Maluti Mountains, the Katse Dam, its various nature reserves, and of course snow skiing in winter at Oxbow.

Annual events in Fouriesburg are the Asparagus festival in September/October and the Surrender Hill marathon in the last week of February and the Cherrie festival in Ficksburg in November.

Accommodation
All the buildings have fireplaces and their own braai facilities (fire wood is provided for). The units are all fully equipped and include bedding and bath towels. All beds are either queen size or single, with extra length mattresses.

The Old Main House
In the Old Main House is a beautifully furnished and decorated bedroom with a large en-suite bathroom available for bed and breakfast. The room is situated on a beautiful stoep with built-in braai and has its own entrance.

The Farm House
It is partly built from sandstone and has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It will accommodate six persons, based on two persons per room, but the bedrooms are large enough to put additional beds when required.

The Rondawel
Built from sandstone and thatch, it has one bedroom with en-suite bathroom (shower) and a sleeper couch (for children) in the living room.

The Chalet
Set with the front to the west, it offers from the veranda the most stunning sunsets over the White Mountains. The bedroom has one queen size bed and a three quarter bed and an en-suite bathroom (shower). In the lounge is a double sleeper couch.

The Field Cottage
This little jewel is something special. This exceptionally beautiful unit is build from sandstone and thatch and will offer you full privacy and luxurious comfort. It is situated on a slope overlooking the valley and the mountains and you will see lots of birds and wild live.

It has a spacious beautifully furnished lounge with fireplace, one bedroom with en-suite bathroom (shower), a double sleeper couch in the lounge and a comfortable fully equipped kitchen.

There is a beautiful thatched veranda from which you can enjoy the sunset over the mountains. The bedroom, bathroom and kitchen are equipped with under floor heating.

This unit is perfect for those who want to enjoy privacy and be in the middle of nature, but also can appreciate some extra luxury.

Walking trails:
On the farm are some beautiful walking trails.

Mountain biking:
On the farm or in the area. Mountain bikes are available.

Horse riding:
Horse riding is available for experienced riders. We offer on the farm one or two hour scenic rides. Longer rides with overnight camping can be organized, but must be booked in advance. For the children lead rides are available and for novices instruction rides can be arranged.

Farm tours:
Short tours of the farm can be organized and during season asparagus tours are offered.

How to get there:

From Bethlehem:
1. Take the R 26 to Fouriesburg. Coming to Fouriesburg do not turn left into town, but right in the direction of Stasie.

2. On that junction is also a road sign indicating right to Mont Plaisir.

3.After 4 km on the road to the Stasie you will see another road sign of Mont Plaisir just opposite the entrance.

From Clarens:
1. Take the R711 to Fouriesburg. Do not take the first turn off into Fouriesburg but continue on the R 711.

2. About 500 mtrs after the first turn off you will come at the intersection with the R 26. Turn right in the direction of Bethlehem.

3. After about 2 km you will see a road sign left for Mont Plaisir.
Turn left there. It is also the direction to Stasie.

4. After 4 km on the road to Stasie you will see an other road sign of Mont Plaisir just opposite the entrance gate.
