     Bufallo
The African buffalo lives in swamps, floodplains as well as mopane grasslands and forests of the major mountains of Africa. Buffalo can be found from the highest mountains to sea level areas.
     Cheetah
The cheetah is unique in its speed and stealth, while lacking climbing abilities. It is the fastest land animal, reaching speeds between 112 kmp and 120 kmp in short bursts.
     Elephant
Elephants are increasingly threatened by human intrusion and poaching. Once numbering in the millions, the African elephant population has dwindled to between 470,000 and 690,000.
     Giraffe
The giraffe is an the tallest of all land-living animal species. Giraffes can inhabit savannas, grasslands, or open woodlands, but prefer areas enriched with acacia growth and drink large quantities of water.
     Leopard
The leopard is the smallest of the four big cats. Once distributed across southern Eurasia and Africa, the leopard's range of distribution has decreased and now chiefly occurs in sub-Saharan Africa.
     Lion
Lions are unusually social compared to other cats. A pride of lions consists of related females and offspring and a small number of adult males.
     Other Wildlife
Photos of other wildlife such as birds, wildebeest, various antelope species, hippo, baboon, monkey and smaller animals.
     Rhino
The rhinoceros family is characterised by large size with all of the species capable of reaching one ton or more in weight. Rhino's have acute hearing and sense of smell, but poor eyesight. Most live to be about 60 years old or more.
     Whales
Like all mammals, whales breathe air into lungs, are warm-blooded and feed their young milk from mammary glands. The body is fusiform, resembling the streamlined form of a fish.
     Zebra
Zebras are native to eastern, southern and southwestern Africa. They are best known for their distinctive white and black stripes, which come in different patterns unique to each individual.
