Unfortunately our stay was not very good! The sheets and Duvet did not fit the beds, and were old and uncomfortable the pillows were flat and lumpy. The paint was peeling off on the bath tub and basin. The carpets were dirty and stained. The restaurant was a make shift restaurant as they were having a wedding on that evening so the chairs didn't match and we ate on trestle tables. I actually phoned and complained to the Manager and cancelled my second stay with them later on in the month. Unfortunately definitely had dropped their level of service since we were their last 7 years ago!

We enjoyed the stay. We have 2 complaints - one despite making the booking as a honeymoon couple we were given 2 single beds pushed together not a nice way to start a honeymoon and we were freezing cold during the night. My second complaint is that during our evening meal on Sunday children were given the run of the upstairs area thumping away spoiling an excellent meal.
The staff were very good food breakfast and dinner were excellent and the value great.

The downstairs bedroom had a very humid smell. The bathroom was very poorly maintained (the sink was peeling) and this is unacceptable. There has been some modernisation of upper rooms but this is incomplete.
This hotel is need of modernisation.

The hotel was very good, the food was superb and the feel of the hotel was very good. The rooms & the reception areas need to be refurbished, but we would have no hesitation in going there again.

Budget/economy units fairly old in terms decor and maintenance. Some have absolutely no view.

This place has the opportunity to be one of the most beautiful hotels in South Africa. Actually, I believe it was. Unfortunately, due to lack of maintenance, we will never sleep there again.

The person on duty in the late afternoons was extremely friendly. A pity a person of his potential is getting wasted.

The experience was satisfactory, however we could not relax during the day due to construction work taking place in rooms adjacent to us even throughout the weekend. Many services were not operational such as Internet access and various boat cruises that were promised in brochures for the establishment. The DSTV connection was continually interrupted. Buffet meals extremely expensive. Otherwise the hotel is in a very nice setting and the rooms are very comfortable.

The hotel is very beautiful and welcoming. Our stay there was very comfortable. I didn't enjoy the food that much, but everything else was very satisfying. I would stay there again and recommend to other people as it was recommended to me. I must say I was not disappointed.

The facilities were way below expected! Carpets threadbare, only one of the French Doors leading to the patio could open, the other had broken hinges. The double bed was two single bed bases of different heights pushed together with a double bed mattress on top. Towels were threadbare and the edges frayed and torn. One evening when wanting to shower it was found that no towels had been put in the bathroom, but room service delivered these promptly.

A breakfast from room service was delivered cold and did not comprise of the ingredients as mentioned on the room service menu. Lock up cupboards had no keys, one of these had bad water damage which rendered the cupboard virtually useless. The shower rose was badly corroded which limited the water flow. The bathroom fittings were of wood (popular in the '70's) with all the varnish worn off - germ count unknown.

The fold out sleeper couch had badly torn and worn upholstery. I don't think that I would recommend the establishment to anybody, and I would think twice before staying there again. While we were there I think that they were refurbishing some of the rooms. The bathroom fittings were been sandpapered by hand, I assume they would be varnished before being refitted. Reusing these fitting would still give the room the feeling of being of the '70's era.

The stay was very pleasant as was the staff who attended to us. The room was neat and tidy and very comfortable. The only negative although it did not effect our stay was that some of the carpeting was showing wear and the upstairs bar/ lounge had a sale smell.
I would definitely visit the hotel again and will also recommend it to friends.

The hotel is old and needs a refreshment.
The bathroom was in a very bad condition,
we couldn't use the shower because it was
so dirty. The staff wasn't frendly, we had the feeling being just numbers.
