Over the Mountain Guest Farm is situated in the hamlet of Herold at the top of the Montagu Pass amidst spectacular mountain scenery on one of only 14 hop farms in South Africa. We are centrally situated for Guests to explore both coastal and inland attractions of the Klein Karoo and Garden Route.
Just 2kms off the R62, 35kms to George and 38kms to Oudtshoorn. Ideally suited for people in need of tranquility or relaxation around our swimming pool, the more active will find great bird watching, mountain biking, walking or hiking right on our door step.
Quad biking, 4x4 trails and wine tours are but 10 minutes away.
Five historic buildings namely the “Police Station”, “Post Office”, “School”, “House of Sin” and “Welsch House”, date back to 1840 and once formed the heart of the bustling town of Herold.
These historic buildings have been renovated into a delightful array of comfortable accommodation, a pub and dining area. Oregon pine ceilings & floors with yellow wood beams are characteristic features of these buildings.

Dining
The Old Police Station houses our dining room and bar. During the renovations the original features were retained with the wooden floors doors and windows adding to the charm of the building.
Breakfasts are available and dinners are served by arrangement. The setting and interior decorating of the Dining Room is ideally suited for long, relaxing evenings with family and friends.
A fine selection of wines from the area is available.
